The Kasigau Corridor REDD+ Project, is a pioneer in wildlife conservation. The project, protects over 200,000 hectares of Wildlife Works is the world`s leading REDD+ program development with an effective approach to applying innovative market-based solutions to the conservation of biodiversity forest with the potential to reduce over 1.7 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year over the next 30years.The ecosystem is home to an incredibly diverse population of wildlife including over 11,000 wild elephants and 300 species of birds.

The project has directly touched the lives of120,000 people and provides the local community of the Kasigau Corridor region with long-term jobs that replace unsustainable sources of income such as poaching, subsistence agriculture and illegal tree harvesting.The project is now the second largest employer in Kenya with an effective approach to wildlife conservation through an expansive community-led, community-based conservation model, investments in health, education, water and other infrastructure, income-generating enterprise, and direct job creation.The project has the dryland Acacia-Commiphora forest under its protection, received Gold Level Status by the Community and Biodiversity Standard for exceptional biodiversity and climate benefits.
